Steelers Place OLB T.J. Watt On PUP List

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Thursday that they’ve placed OLB T.J. Watt on the active/PUP list.

Watt will still count against the Steelers’ 90-man roster and can be activated at any time.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin told reporters that Watt is dealing with a hamstring injury, but it shouldn’t be a long stint on the PUP list.

Watt, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Steelers back in 2017. He’s in the third year of his four-year, $9.258 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $1.3 million and $1.72 million over the next two years.

The Steelers have a fifth-year option to pick up on Watt for the 2021 season.

In 2018, Watt appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recorded 68 tackles, 13 sacks, six forced fumbles and three pass defenses.
