Steelers Place WR Justin Hunter On IR, Promote RB Trey Edmunds

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Tuesday that they’ve placed WR Justin Hunter on injured reserve and promoted RB Trey Edmunds to their active roster.

The Steelers also signed LB Matthew Thomas to their practice squad and released LB Farrington Huguenin from the unit.

Here’s the Steelers updated practice squad:

  1. LB Keion Adams
  2. WR Trey Griffey
  3. TE Bucky Hodges
  4. DE Lavon Hooks
  5. WR Tevin Jones
  6. C Patrick Morris
  7. OL R.J. Prince
  8. TE Christian Scotland-Williamson (International)
  9. CB Herb Waters
  10. LB Matthew Thomas

Hunter spent over three years in Tennessee before he was waived and later claimed by the Dolphins.

Miami elected to move on from Hunter after a few weeks and he later caught on with the Bills and wound up finishing out the 2016 season in Buffalo. The Steelers signed him to a contract the following year and elected to bring him back on a one-year contract this past April.

Hunter will be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Hunter appeared in five games for the Steelers and caught three passes for 21 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
