Aditi Kinkhabwala reports that Steelers RB James Conner tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
According to Kinkhabwala, Connor is awaiting a second test tomorrow to confirm the results, but the Steelers are conducting contact tracing right now.
The COVID-19 list was created this summer for a player who either tests positive for or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.
Players will remain on the list until they are medically cleared to return.
Conner, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Steelers back in 2017. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $3.09 million contract that included a $706,288 signing bonus and stands to make a base salary of $745,000 for the 2020 season.
Conner will be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
In 2020, Conner has appeared in 10 games for the Steelers and rushed for 645 yards on 145 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with 25 receptions for 145 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
We have him included in our Top 50 – 2021 Free Agents list.
