The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday that they’ve signed LB Tegray Scales and WR Diontae Spencer to futures contracts for the 2019 season.
As of now, the Steelers have signed 14 players to futures deals including:
- LB Keion Adams
- WR Trey Griffey
- DT Lavon Hooks
- WR Tevin Jones
- C Patrick Morris
- G R.J. Prince
- TE Christian Scotland-Williamson
- DB Herb Waters
- RB Ralph Webb
- TE Bucky Hodges
- QBย Brogan Roback
- WR Ka’Raun White
- LB Tegray Scales
- WR Diontae Spencer
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Scales, 22, wound up signing on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Indiana back in May of last year. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract but was waived coming out of the preseason.
Scales had a brief stint on the Colts’ practice squad in December.
During his college career at Indiana, Scales recorded 324 tackles, 17 sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries, eight interceptions with on being returned for a touchdown, and six pass defenses.
