Steelers Sign LB Vince Williams To Four-Year, $20.6M Extension

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Thursday that they’ve signed LB Vince Williams to a four-year extension through 2021.

  • According to Ed Bouchette, Williams’ four-year deal is worth $20.6 million.

โ€œI feel like the Rooney family gave me an opportunity to play professional football,โ€ said Williams. โ€œItโ€™s a great culture here. A great fan base.

โ€œI take pride in being in Pittsburgh. Itโ€™s a hard-nosed group of individuals who work here. I feel like the people here are no nonsense, hard-working individuals. They are proud people too. I love this place.

โ€œThere have been so many great players that have played for the Steelers, so many great linebackers. Just the legacy here. The history. Itโ€™s so deep and rich. I really feel like I can relate to the people of Pittsburgh.โ€

This comes shortly after the news that the Steelers locked up K Chris Boswell to a new four-year deal.

Williams, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2013. He was in the final year of his three-year, $6.175 million contract and set to make a base salary of $2 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Williams appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recorded 89 tackles, eight sacks, an interception and a pass defense.
