Texans Officially Cut 34 Players

The Houston Texans have officially cut their roster down to 53 players ahead of today’s deadline. 

Roster Cuts:

  4. LB Davin Bellamy
  5. RB Damarea Crockett
  6. DE Jamal Davis
  7. T Christian DiLauro
  8. WR Johnnie Dixon
  9. NT Javier Edwards
  10. DB Austin Exford
  11. RB Josh Ferguson
  12. RB Karan Higdon
  13. DT Albert Huggins
  14. WR Tyron Johnson
  15. T Rick Leonard
  16. DT Walter Palmore
  17. DB Jermaine Ponder
  18. G Malcolm Pridgeon
  19. G Maurquice Shakir
  20. DT Tracy Sprinkle
  21. QB Jordan Ta’amu
  22. WR Jester Weah

Other Roster Moves:

  • Texans placed QB Joe Webb on injured reserve

Ponder, 24, signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2019 out of St. Francis University. Cleveland released him a few weeks ago and he signed on with the Steelers soon after. 

Pittsburgh waived Ponder a few weeks ago and he caught on in Houston. 

During his senior season, Ponder recorded 25 total tackles, one interception and 15 pass defenses in 11 games.
