Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have “some interest” in former Raiders OT Donald Penn.
This comes shortly after the news that the Texans are hosting free agent OT Jordan Mills for a visit, so they’re clearly gauging the offensive tackle market.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Penn to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Penn, 35, originally signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Utah State back in 2006. After a few months in Minnesota, Penn signed on with the Buccaneers during his rookie season and spent eight years in Tampa Bay before he was released back in 2014.
The Raiders signed Penn to a contract soon after before bringing him back on a $21M extension in 2017 but was just recently released.
In 2018, Penn appeared in four games for the Raiders.
We had him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
