Texans & Jets Both Trying To Sign S Antonio Allen

Kimberly A. Martin is reporting that the Texans and Jets are both trying to get free agent S Antonio Allen under contract.

Allen, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jets back in 2012. He has played out his four-year, $2.1 million rookie contract and is now testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time.

Allen, unfortunately, suffered a season-ending Achilles injury back in August of last year and was subsequently waived with the injury designation before reverting to the Jets injured reserve list.

In 2014, Allen appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 41 tackles, a half sack, a forced fumble and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 63 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players that year.
