Texans Sign QB Ricky Stanzi To Practice Squad

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Houston Texans have signed QB Ricky Stanzi to their practice squad on Tuesday.

  • The Texans also brought in quarterback Seth Lobato for a workout.

This comes just a day after Houston signed QB Case Keenum off of the Ram’s practice squad following injuries to Ryan Fitzpatrick and rookie Tom Savage.

The Texans have yet to decide if they will be starting Keenum or Thad Lewis for Week 16’s game, but a decision is likely to come on Wednesday.

Stanzi, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2011. He spent two years with the Chiefs before he waived at the start of the 2013 season and later claimed off of waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Stanzi was once again waived at the start of the 2014 regular season, but was not signed to the team’s practice squad.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
