According to Mark Berman, the Texans have reached a verbal agreement with veteran DT Timmy Jernigan.
Jernigan has been with the Eagles for the past few seasons. He provides a boost for Houston’s interior defensive line.
According to Ian Rapoport, Jernigan receives a one-year deal worth up to $3.75 million with $1.25 million guaranteed.
Jernigan, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2014. Baltimore later traded Jernigan and a third-round pick to the Eagles in return for a third-round pick in 2017.
Jernigan was in the final year of his four-year, $4.382 million contract that included $2.126 million guaranteed when the Eagles signed him to a four-year, $48 million extension that included $26 million fully guaranteed in 2017.
Philadelphia declined Jernigan’s option last year but ended up re-signing him for the 2019 season.
In 2019, Jernigan appeared in 10 games for the Eagles and recorded 10 tackles and two sacks.
