Texans Signing WR Randall Cobb To Three-Year, $27M Deal

James Jones is reporting that the Texans are signing WR Randall Cobb to a three-year, $27 million that includes $18.75 million guaranteed.

The Texans clearly had a need at receiver after they traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals earlier in the day for David Johnson and draft picks.

Cobb is a much different kind of receiver than Hopkins, but he was among the best available options at the position.

Cobb, 29, is a former 2011 second-round pick of the Packers out of Kentucky.  After his four-year rookie contract expired in 2015, the Packers signed Cobb to a four-year, $40 million extension that ran through the 2018 season.

The Packers allowed Cobb’s contract to expire and he later signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Cowboys.

In 2019, Cobb appeared in 15 games for the Cowboys and caught 55 passes for 828 yards receiving and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 11 yards.

We had him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
