John McClain of the Houston Chronicle mentions that the Houston Texans will most likely consider using their franchise tag RB Arian Foster if a long-term is within reach.
Foster is a restricted-free agent but they may want to deter teams from making a run at their Pro Bowl running back. The franchise tag would guarantee Foster $7.7 million for the upcoming season but Houston would only use the tag as an extension in the scenario to buy them the extra time to get a long-term deal in place.
“Foster won’t be going anywhere,” says McClain.
