Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Titans and Lions are among “several” teams that have shown some interest in trading for Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake. However, Jackson says that no team has been willing to meet Miami’s asking price for Drake up to this point.
According to Jackson, the Dolphins want at least a fourth-round pick in a trade for Drake.
While multiple teams have inquired about Drake, Jackson says that the offers havenโt been attractive. In fact, Jackson mentions that one team offered Miami a conditional seventh-round pick that could increase to a sixth-round selection for Drake.
Another team reportedly offered a late-round 2021 pick.
Jackson previously reported that the Dolphins wanted to sign Drake to a contract extension, but his agents never responded to Miamiโs offer.
Should the Dolphins let Drake walk next year, it’s unlikely they would recoup a compensatory pick in 2021 for him, given that they’re expected to be active in free agency.
Drake, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.5 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $810,000 for the 2019 season.
Drake is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2019, Drake has appeared in six games for the Dolphins and rushed for 174 yards on 47 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 22 receptions for 174 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Weโll have more regarding Drake as the news is available.
