Titans Make Four Roster Moves

The Tennessee Titans announced Tuesday that they’ve signed DL Johnny Maxey and DL Du’Vonta Lampkin to contracts and placed CB Tye Smith on injured reserve.

  • The Titans also waived DL Claude Pelon with an injury designation.

Smith, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2015. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.446 million contract and set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season when the Seahawks cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Seattle later signed him to their practice squad before cutting him loose. Smith finished out the year on the Redskins’ practice squad before signing a futures contract with the Titans in 2017.

In 2017, Smith appeared in 15 games for the Titans and recorded 20 tackles, an interception and a pass defense.

Pelon, 25, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of back in May of 2016. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to team’s practice squad at the start of the season.

The Jets brought Pelon back on a future/reserve contract last year and he managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. However, he was later waived and re-signed to the Jets’ taxi squad.

Pelon once again returned to the Jets on a futures contract his past January before New York waived him with an injury designation last month. He was released with an injury settlement upon reverting to injured reserve.

The Titans signed him to a contract last week.

In 2017, Pelon appeared in one game and has recorded two tackles and no sacks.
