Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Lions are trading S Quandre Diggs and a seventh-round pick in 2021 to the Seahawks for a fifth-round pick in 2020.
The Seahawks have officially announced the trade for Diggs along with the following roster moves:
- Seahawks waived G Jordan Roos.
- Seahawks signed WR Penny Hart and LB Malik Carney to their practice squad.
- Seahawks released DT Bryan Mone from their practice squad.
This move is somewhat surprising, as Detroit had just signed Diggs to a three-year, $20.4 million extension at the start of last season.
Diggs, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Lions back in 2015. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $2.395 million contract and in line to be an unrestricted free agent when he signed a three-year, $20.4 million extension in 2018.
In 2019, Diggs has appeared in five games for the Lions and recorded 20 tackles with no sacks, interceptions or pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 61 safety out of 107 qualifying players.
