TRADE: Packers Trade CB Lenzy Pipkins To Colts For LB Antonio Morrison

Michael Cohen of The Athletic reports that the Packers have traded CB Lenzy Pipkins to the Colts for LB Antonio Morrison.

From the Packers perspective, Pipkins had been seeing time with the third- and fourth-string units during camp and they happened to be in need of help at linebacker after losing Jake Ryan for the season and rookie Oren Burks to a recent shoulder injury.

Lenzy Pipkins, 24, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State back in 2017. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and is currently in the second year of his three-year, $1.66 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

As for the Colts, they’ve been working through some injuries at cornerback and Pipkins has shown some ability in limited work that he’s likely a worthy gamble for their secondary.

In 2017, Pipkins appeared in 12 games for the Packers and recorded 15 tackles, no interceptions and a pass defense.

Morrison, 23, is a former fourth-round pick of the Colts back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.859 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Morrison appeared in 15 games for the Colts and recorded 108 tackles, no sacks or interceptions and one pass defense.
