UCLA’s Johnathan Franklin Could Be The First RB Taken

Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net reports that “a number of teams” have UCLA’s Johnathan Franklin ranked as the No. 1 running back in this year’s draft class.

Pauline adds that Franklin is drawing comparisons to Frank Gore and Doug Martin from NFL evaluators.

Jason La Canfora also mentioned that he believes Franklin will be the first running back to come off the board next week, so there are a growing number of supporters for the young half-back.

La Canfora added that the Jets and Steelers among those “looking hard” at him, but he wouldn’t go as far to say that Franklin will be taken in round one.

Alabama RB Eddie Lacy has been the consensus No. 1 running back in recent months, but a poor Pro Day appears to have had a negative impact on his overall draft stock. We should know more players’ draft stock in the days leading up to the draft.
