On Friday, veteran CBย Vontae Davis officially passed through waivers unclaimed and is now free to sign with a team of his choosing.
This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, considering that reports from this week have said that Davis is likely to undergo season-ending surgery for a groin issue.
Davis, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2009. He spent three years in Miami before he was traded to the Colts for the 2012 season.
Davis was in the final year of his four-year, $36 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $9 million for the 2017 season when the Colts waived him on Thursday.
In 2017, Davis has appeared in four games and recorded 17 tackles, no interceptions and a pass defense.
