Kearse, 30, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Washington back in 2012. He spent his rookie season on and off of the Seahawks’ practice squad before making the 53-man roster the following year.
The Seahawks re-signed Kearse to a three-year, $13.5 million contract in 2016. However, he was later traded to the Jets as a part of the deal for DT Sheldon Richardson.
The Lions signed Kearse to a one-year contract worth $1.35 million in June of last year but he suffered a broken leg.
For his career, Kearse appeared in 99 games for the Jets and Seahawks, catching 255 passes for 3,290 yads receiving and 17 touchdowns over the course of seven seasons.
