Vikings Could Get Adrian Peterson Back By Mid-To-Late December

Ben Goessling of ESPN, citing league sources, reports that Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is making “solid progress” in his return from surgery to repair a later meniscus tear and could be back by mid-to-late December.

According to Goessling, Peterson had an exam on his knee last week and he could begin running at some point this week. However, Goessling says that Peterson is still being cautious in his return.

Even so, there’s still a chance Peterson could return before the end of the regular season with games against the Colts and Packers being possibilities for his return.

It’s been a while since we’ve got an update regarding Peterson and his return.

Peterson ultimately decided to repair his lateral meniscus, which left him with a three- to six-month timetable. Had he trimmed his meniscus, he could have returned in two or three weeks.

Peterson, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. He’s currently in the second year of his three-year, $44 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7.75 million for the 2016 season.

This season, Peterson has rushed for 50 yards on 31 carries (1.6 YPC) to go along with two receptions for seven yards receiving and no touchdowns.
