Vikings Have Inquired About P Marquette King

Chris Tomasson reports that the Vikings have already inquired about free agent P Marquette King, who was surprisingly released by the Raiders on Friday.

Tomasson mentions that Vikings P Ryan Quigley is under contract in 2018 for a nonguaranteed $790,000.

This is a pretty good indication that King’s market could move quickly, if teams are contacting him less than an hour after he was released.

It’s worth mentioning that signing King to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

King, 29, originally signed by the Raiders as an undrafted free agent of Fort Valley State back in 2012. He was in the third year of his five-year, $16.5 million contract that included $7.75 million guaranteed and set to make base salaries of $2.9 million and $2.8 million when the Raiders cut him loose.

In 2017, King appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and totaled 3,065 punt yards on 69 attempts (47.15 YPA) to go along with six touchbacks.
