Vikings Officially Decline WR Laquon Treadwell’s Fifth-Year Option

The Minnesota Vikings announced Wednesday that they’ve declined WR Laquon Treadwell‘s fifth-year option.

The option would have cost Minnesota $10.162 million.

Treadwell has struggled since being drafted by the Vikings in the first round in 2016, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

It’s worth mentioning that Treadwell has come up as a potential trade candidate, but it seems unlikely that there would be much interest in acquiring him.

Treadwell, 23, was taken with the No. 23 overall pick out of Ole Miss by the Vikings in 2016. According to OverTheCap.com, Treadwell received a four-year contract worth $9,934,980 to go along with a signing bonus of $5,425,440.

In 2018, Treadwell played in 15 games for the Vikings, catching 35 passes for 302 yards (8.6 YPC) and one touchdown.
