Pete Schrager reports that buzz around the league is that it’s either theย Vikings or Panthers as potential landing spots for free agent LT Matt Kalil.
Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reported earlier in the week that the Panthers are expected to be players forย Kalil.
Carolina has obvious question marks at left tackle, given that Michael Oher missed most of the season after he was placed in the concussion protocol and is unfortunately still dealing with issues relating to this injury.
It’s worth mentioning that Kalil’s brother, Ryan, is the Panthers center, so there’s an obvious connection between the two.
The Vikings reportedly would still like to bring Kalil back, but at a reduced salary from the $11 million he made last year.
Kalil, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract but the Vikings elected to pick up his fifth-year option, which came with a base salary of $11.09 million for the 2016 season.
Kalil is in line to be an unrestricted free agentย in the coming days.
In 2016, Kalil was limited to appearing in just two games for the Vikings after he was placed on injured reserve with a hip injury.
We have him featured in ourย Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
