Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph announced Monday night that he’s agreed to a new extension to remain in Minnesota.
- Adam Schefter reports that the Vikings are signing Rudolph to a four-year, $36 million extension.
- According to Ian Rapoport, Rudolph receives $1.625M additional this year added to his $7.625M base salary. As far as guarantees are concerned, he receives $9 million fully guaranteed and $16.025 million in total guarantees.
- Tom Pelissero notes that the move will clear around $4 million of cap space for the Vikings, who have had less than $1 million to work with the past few weeks.

Rudolph had been the subject of trade rumors for the past few months with there being some buzz about him possibly ending up with the Patriots.
However, it appears as though the Vikings were able to close the gap in contract negotiations and ensure that he’ll remain in Minnesota for the foreseeable future.
The Vikings could really use some cap room and getting a new deal in place should give them plenty of cap room to work with in the coming months.
Rudolph, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Vikings back in 2011. He’s currently in the final year of his five-year, $36,500,000 contract and stands to make a base salary $7,275,000 for the 2019 season.
Rudolph was set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Rudolph appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and caught 64 passes for 634 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
