Vikings Signing WR Kendall Wright

Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero are reporting that the Vikings are signing veteran WR Kendall Wright to a contract on Friday.

This comes a day after news surfaced that Minnesota was hosting Wright for a visit. He also met with the Chiefs since free agency opened, but it appears as though the Vikings proved to be his best option in the end.

Wright was among the best available slot receivers and he should replace Jarius Wright, who was released a few weeks ago.

Wright, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Titans back in 2012. He played out his four-year, $8.218 million contract with the Titans before they elected to pick up his fifth-year option back in May of 2015.

Wright wound up signing a one-year contract with the Bears last March worth up to $4 million and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the second straight year.

In 2017, Wright appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and caught 59 passes for 614 yards receiving and one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 40 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
