Vikings Waive S Curtis Riley, Promote Two Players

The Minnesota Vikings announced that they have waived S Curtis Riley on Saturday and promoted LB Hardy Nickerson and LB Blake Lynch from their practice squad to the active roster.

Riley, 28, wound up signing on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State back in 2015. He was on and off of their roster for two years before signing on with the Giants in 2018.

Riley finished out a one-year deal with the Raiders in 2019 and had signed a one-year deal with the Steelers in 2020 before being released and re-signed to the practice squad. The Cardinals signed him in September and bounced on and off their practice squad before the Vikings signed him in October.

In 2020, Riley has appeared in four games for the Cardinals and two for the Vikings, recording nine total tackles and no interceptions.

Nickerson, 26, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois back in 2017. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed to the Bengals’ practice squad.

Nickerson was on and off of the Bengals’ active roster before joining the Vikings last month. He was among Minnesota’s final roster cuts this offseason and has been on and off of their roster this season.

In 2020, Nickerson has appeared in 10 games for the Vikings and recorded five total tackles and a forced fumble.
