Vikings Working To Re-Sign STs Coordinator Mike Priefer

Alex Marvez is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings are working to re-sign special teams coach Mike Priefer, whose contract is set to expire in the near future.

Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski is another notable coach in line to be a free agent that the team is working to retain.

Priefer, 52, began his coaching career at Navy back in 1994 as a graduate assistant. He worked for a few schools before being hired by the Jaguars as an assistant special teams coach in 2002.

Priefer worked a handful of NFL teams including the Giants, Chiefs and Broncos before the Vikings hired him as their special teams coordinator in 2001.

According to FootballOutsiders, the Vikings’ special teams unit ranked No. 20 in the NFL this season.
