The deal includes a massive $30 million signing bonus, according to Allen’s agency, and works out to $18 million per year.
Allen was entering the final year of his contract and was set to play out 2021 on the fifth-year option, so he was an obvious candidate for a new deal.
Allen, 26, was selected in the first round in 2017 out of Alabama by Washington. He signed a four-year, $11.596 million contract that included a $6.573 million signing bonus.
Washington exercised the fifth-year option on Allen which was set to pay him $10.05 million in 2021.
In 2020, Allen appeared in all 16 games for Washington and recorded 63 total tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a safety. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 18 overall interior defender out of 126 qualifying players.
