Derek Carr’s Has A Bruised Thumb, Could Play In Week 2

Update:

According to Chris Mortensen, the Raiders are now “encouraged” by the MRI results onย QBย Derek Carr‘s injured hand, and have informed Christian Ponder that he will not be signed unless there’s setback.

  • Ian Rapoport reports thatย the Raiders feel like there’s a “good chance” Carr could playย in Week 2.

———-

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that Raiders QBย Derek Carr‘sย suffered a bruised thumb during Week 1’s loss to the Bengals.

This is, of course, good news for the Raiders and Carr, seeing asย X-rays came back negative on his hand injury.

Oakland is still awaiting theย MRI results, according to Rapoport, and his Week 2 status will depend on whether theย swelling goes down on his hand.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Carr is expected to miss Week 2, but it sounds like there’s at least a chance he could be back on Sunday.

Mortensenย added that Oakland has reached out to veteran QB Christian Ponder, who was cut loose a little over a week ago.

The Raiders’ offense really struggled without Carr under center, so hopefully he’ll be able to return at some point in the near future.

We’ll have more updates regarding Carr’s status for Week 2 as the new is available.
