Zach Brown Sees “The Writing On The Wall” Regarding Future With Redskins

Redskins LB Zach Brown said Wednesday that he sees “the writing on the wall” for his future in Washington after being benched last week.

“I’m just sitting here just doing what I’m supposed to be doing ’till it’s time for me to leave,” Brown said, via NBC Washington. “You see the writing on the wall. It is what it is. Just here now I just got to contribute to the team and help us get to the playoffs.

It’s been very frustrating. You get benched and it’s not like you get a reason or anything for,” Brown said. “Just got to keep doing things, just got to keep practicing. You’ve just got to just stay ready. But at the same time it’s frustrating. It’s frustrating on anybody to get benched and you not know the reason.

Brown, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Titans back in 2012. He finished his four-year rookie contract with Tennessee before signing a one-year, $1,250,000 contract with the Bills as an unrestricted free agent in 2016.

After finding less interest than anticipated, Brown agreed to a one-year, $2.3 million contract with the Redskins last year and returned to Washington this past March on a three-year contract worth up to $24 million.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Brown next year will free up $5.75 million of available cap space while creating $3 million in dead money.

In 2018, Brown has appeared in 13 games for the Redskins and recorded 80 tackles, no sacks or interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a pass defense.

We’ll have more regarding Brown as the news is available.
