Browns First-Round CB Denzel Ward’s Back Injury Not Major Deal

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that it doesn’t sound like Denzel Ward’s injury is a major deal.

Browns First-Round CB Denzel Ward was forced from Thursday’s preseason game against the Eagles after suffering a back injury during the first quarter.

Ward was down holding his back after a play before being escorted off the field by the medical staff and eventually taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Ward, 21, was taken with the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft by the Browns. According to OverTheCap.com, Ward receives a four-year, $29,283,338 contract that includes a $19,376,972 signing bonus.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Browns to pick up in 2021.

During his four-year college career, Ward recorded 67 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and 24 pass defenses.

We’ll have more regarding Ward as the news is available.
