Browns Hiring Former Jets RBs Coach Stump Mitchell

Josina Anderson reports that the Browns are hiring former Jets RBs coach Stump Mitchell to their staff. He is expected to continue coaching running backs, but his official title has yet to be finalized, according to Anderson.

The Cardinals were reportedly set to hire him as their running backs coach under new HC Kliff Kingsbury‘s staff (NFLTR), but it appears he’ll be joining the Browns’ staff instead. new HC Freddie Kitchens instead.

Mitchell, 59, played 10 seasons in the NFL before getting into coaching in 1993. He took his first NFL coaching job with the Seahawks as their RBs coach in 1999.

Mitchell worked for the Redskins and Cardinals as their RBs coach before he was hired by the Jets through 2017-2018.
