The San Diego Chargers released veteran DT Mitch Unrein on Thursday, according to NFL transactions release.
This move will create a roster spot for TE Kyle Miller, who was signed to a contract today.
Unrein, 28, signed a two-year, $1.9 million contract with the Chargers back in March. He was set to make base salaries of $750,000 and $900,000 over the next two years.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing will Unrein free up $625,000 in available cap space while creating $250,000 in dead money.
In 2014, Unrein appeared in eight games and recorded just a single tackle for the Broncos. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing just 46 total snaps last year.
