Cowboys Designate CB Orlando Scandrick As Post-June 1 Release

Josina Anderson reports that the Cowboys have informed CB Orlando Scandrick that he will be released.

  • Todd Archer reports that the Cowboys will designate Scandrick as a post-June 1 release, which will boost the cap savings to $3 million of cap room in 2018.

Earlier in the week, Todd Archer reported that Scandrick has requested his release from the team, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Scandrick, 31, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2008. He was in the fourth year of his five-year, $20 million contract and set to make base salaries of $3 million and $4 million over the final two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Scandrick will free up $3 million of available cap space while creating $2,281,021 in dead money.

In 2017, Scandrick recorded 38 tackles, no interceptions and three pass defenses for the Cowboys over the course of 11 games before he was placed on injured reserve. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 113 overall cornerback out of 121 qualifiers.
