Falcons announced that they have signed former Bears and Buccaneers OL Gabe Carimi to a contract.

Carimi, 25, appeared in 13 games for the Buccaneers in 2013, playing just 213 snaps and rating below average in both run and pass-blocking, according to Pro Football Focus.

There’s no question that Carimi he has been a huge bust since the Chicago Bears used their first-round pick on him back in 2011. Chicago would later send him to Tampa Bay in return for a 2014 sixth-round selection before the Buccaneers cut him loose just a few weeks ago before his $596,187 roster bonus was due on March 13.

Carimi wasn’t claimed off of waivers, but the Falcons were mentioned as potential landing spot for him, so it not all that surprising to see them give him another shot during training camp.
