The New York Giants officially signed LB Thurston Armbrister, OT Laurence Gibson and RB Jalen Simmons to futures contracts on Tuesday for the 2018 season.
As of now, the Giants have signed 12 players to futures deals including:

- DB Jeremiah McKinnon
- P Austin Rehkow
- DB Tim Scott
- WR Canaan Severin
- DT Kristjan Sokoli

- LB Thurston Armbrister
- OT Laurence Gibson
- RB Jalen Simmons
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Armbrister, 24, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May of 2015. He was able to crack Jacksonville’s active roster and played out a full year with the team before being waived.
The Lions claimed him off waivers in September of last year and was also able to make the team’s active roster.
Detroit waived him back in September and signed him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers. He had a brief stint on their active roster this season and eventually finished out the year on the Lions’ practice squad.
In 2016, Armbrister appeared in 14 games for the Lions and recorded 15 total tackles.
