Jets S Rontez Miles Out 3-4 Months Following Surgery For Torn Meniscus

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jets S Rontez Miles underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus and is out 3-4 months. According to Rapoport, Miles is a possible candidate to be placed on o injured reserve and later brought back during the season.

This explains why the Jets are reportedly close to signing veteran S J.J. Wilcox to a contract.

Miles, 29, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) back in 2013. He was on and off of the Jets’ roster over first three years with the team before managing to spend the last two years on the 53-man unit.

The Jets re-signed Miles to a one-year, $1.907 million restricted deal this offseason.

In 2017, Miles appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 25 tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.
