NFL Notes: Bills, Cardinals, Jaguars

Bills

Bills LB Reggie Ragland told reporters that he’s forward to playing in Sean McDermott‘s 4-3 system.

“It’s great, it’s going to let the linebackers move around and eat so I like it a lot,” Ragland said, via BuffaloBills.com. “Some things I still gotta get used to because I’ve never played in a 4-3 before but I’m getting there, taking my time with it.”

Cardinals

Cardinals CB Justin Bethel mentioned that the $2.5 million pay cut he agreed to this offseason is just him betting on himself.

It’s called betting on yourself,” Bethel said, via Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic.

Bethel added that there are no hard feelings between him and the Cardinals, despite the pay reduction.

“I think it was just one of those things, a situation where the team thought because of the way the season ended and where they need to be in the future, it was something they wanted to throw out there,” Bethel said. “We just ended up making it beneficial for both sides. I don’t have any ill will. You have to play to earn your money in this league.

Jaguars

  • James Palmer of NFL Media reports that veteran LT Brandon Albert sent a text message to Jaguars HC Doug Marrone earlier this week, which opened up the lines of communication between the two parties.
  • According to Palmer, Albert and the Jaguars hadn’t been in contact with one another since his press conference back in March.
  • The Jaguars and Albert are now expected to talk, but not negotiate a new contract and that Albert could be in attendance for the start of OTAs.
