NFL Notes: Bills, Panthers, Jets, Texans, & Titans

Bills

Bills HC Rex Ryan said he was intially shocked to hear that the Eagles were willing to trade RB LeSean McCoy.

We were just kinda like stunned there for a little bit. We were like really? Wow,” Ryan said. “Obviously, we were interested, and then the trade came down. We knew it wasn’t gonna be cheap by any stretch, and losing a player like Kiko Alonso is obviously a steep price, but we felt really good about it.”

Jets

New Jets HC Todd Bowles said that QB Geno Smith is their “No. 1 guy right now.”

“He’s the No. 1 guy right now,” Bowles said, via NFL.com. “Fitzpatrick is injured and we don’t have a draft yet, but we’re looking at a competition there based on the way he finished the last game and some of the things he did, he did a great job doing that but without seeing him and sitting down and talking to him it’s kind of hard to say right now. He has made some strides.”

Panthers

Texans

  • Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney has a pre-draft visit and workout set up with the Texans. (State of the Texans)

Titans

Titans HC Ken Whisenhunt was asked about the possibility of them taking Oregon QB Marcus Mariota at No. 2 overall.

“If he comes to us at No. 2, he’s definitely going to be the day 1 starter,” Whisenhunt said, via Jim Corbett. “I’m very impressed by Marcus.
