Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Packers are placing P Justin Vogel on waivers Friday.
This comes less than a week after the team used a fifth-round pick on P J.K. Scott.
While it was clear that Vogel was going to have a difficult time securing the job this summer, the team indicated that he was at least going to be given a shot at winning the job.
Vogel, 24, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami last year. He’s in the second year of his three-year, $1.66 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the final two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Vogel appeared in all 16 games for the Packers and totaled 2,991 yards on 71 attempts (42.12 YPA) to go along with two touchbacks.
