Field Yatesย of ESPN reports that the Redskins have signed veteran OLย Orlando Franklin to a futures contract for the 2018 season.
As of now, the Redskins have signed 15 players to futures deals including:

- RB Kenny Hilliard
- OL Cameron Jefferson
- OL John Kling
- LB Alex McCalister
- LB Cassanova McKinzy
- DL Ondre Pipkins
- DB James Sample
- S Orion Stewart
- QBย Stephen Morris
- DL Montori Hughes
- DB Kenny Ladler
- OL Orlando Franklin
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Franklin, 30, is a formerย second-round pick of the Broncos. He finished playing out hisย four-year rookie contractย with Denver and signed aย five-year, $36.5 million contract that includedย $20 million guaranteed with the Chargers back in 2015.
Franklin was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2017 season when the Chargers designated him as a post June-1 release. The Saints signed him to a contract back in Julyย but released him a week later.
Franklin had a brief stint with the Redskins last year.
In 2016, Franklin appeared in all 16 games for the Chargersย and was rated byย Pro Football Focusย as the No. 66 guard out of 72 qualifying players.
