Report: Browns The “Front-Runners” To Appear On “Hard Knocks”

Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News is “hearing” that the Browns are the “front-runners” to appear on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” in 2015.

  • Carucci doesn’t say if the Browns had volunteered to appear on the show or if the league.

There are nine NFL teams that could be forced to appear on the show if a team doesn’t volunteer for the show.

The circumstances that can prevent teams for appearing on “Hard Knocks” include:

  • Hiring a new head coach
  • Making the playoffs at least one in the past two seasons
  • Appeared on the show in past 10 years.

After eliminating the teams that fall into these categories, we’re left with:

  • Cleveland Browns
  • Houston Texans
  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Minnesota Vikings
  • New York Giants
  • St. Louis Rams
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Tennessee Titans
  • Washington Redskins

The Browns’ notable offseason acquisitions include: QB Josh McCown, Brian Hartline, DT Randy Starks, CB Tramon Williams, and WR Dwayne Bowe.

However, the most compelling player for Cleveland would obviously be Johnny Manziel and whether he would be able to push McCown for the starting job.

There is still a chance that the Browns could target Oregon QB Marcus Mariota in this year’s draft, which would make for another interesting story line to watch.

We’ll have more regarding who could appear on the show as the news is available.

      • Sorry… Guess it was another show on HBO. They followed Haslam around each week in his first season as owner. They also profiled Phil Dawson (in what proved to be his last season with the Browns). They featured other players, too – Haden, Thomas – and coach Chud. I guess I mistakenly thought it was Hard Knocks. Anybody know what the name of that show was?

          • I researched and found it. It was called “NFL Road Tested: The Cleveland Browns” and it aired on the Travel Channel, not HBO. It was similar to “Hard Knocks.” Sorry for the confusion.

  1. In this season of Hard Knocks, we watch Johnny Football snort cocaine off of hookers while Josh Gordon is still smoking pot. John Gruden commentates about Johnny Football smoking pot. And the Cleveland Browns still suck. The end.
