Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that theĀ NFLPA has scheduled a vote for Friday regarding a new drug policy that will include all 32 players reps.

  • Albert Breer reports that the NFLPAĀ received a new proposal that appears to have the remaining issues worked out.
  • According to Breer, there is a good chance that a deal is done tomorrow.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports thatĀ NFL and NFLPA are hoping to finalize an agreement on a new drug policy at some point Thursday night.

  • Schefter adds thatĀ suspensions are expected to beĀ overturned as part of this deal.

This coincidesĀ with a report fromĀ Jason La CanforaĀ in whichĀ he mentions that theĀ NFLPA has informed team reps to be on “standby for a potential vote” on a new drug policy.

The two sides have reportedlyĀ made “some breakthroughs” on the major issues being discussed such as HGH testing. The NFL has reportedly backed off on their insistence that they should be allowed to hand down punishment for players that are arrested for DUI before the legal process has played out.

This is good news for players like Broncos WR Wes Welker and Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick seeing as their violations came within the 2014 league year.

However, La CanforaĀ previously mentioned thatĀ JoshĀ Gordon’s case remains “tricky” given thatĀ his failed test occurredĀ before new league year.

Gordon’s suspension stems from a failed drug test during the 2013 season, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens regarding his situation.

We’ll post more updates here as the news is available.
