ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that FSU QB Jameis Winston is in Tampa Bay for a three-day “Glazer-centric” visit with the Buccaneers.

  • Schefter adds that this is an unprecedented situation given that potential No. 1 overall prospects don’t visit with teams with the No. 1 pick this early in the process.
  • Albert Breer mentions that Winston will meet with GM Jason Licht, coach Lovie Smith and coaching and front-office staff.

While this may not by a typical move for an NFL team to meeting with a prospect so far in advance, it’s been clear that the Buccaneers are strongly considering using their No. 1 overall pick on Winston.

Tampa Bay parted ways with Josh McCown and there has been talk that they could even make Mike Glennon available for trade in the coming weeks.

Buccaneers HC Lovie Smith even said that they’re comfortable with some of the character concerns regarding Winston.

From what I know right now, yeah, we’re OK with where he is,” Smith said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “He’s been accused of a crime. There’s an allegation. He went through our court system. I have faith in our court system. He went through the school justice system. He was cleared. He went through our court system and he was cleared. Exonerated. What else can you do?

At the Combine, Winston reportedly met with the Buccaneers, Browns, Saint, Jets, Rams and Titans.

Winston finished the 2014 regular season throwing for 3,559 yards while completing 65.4 percent of his passes to go along with 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions over the course of 12 games. He also added three rushing touchdowns.
