Showdown Between Bills GM Doug Whaley & Coaching Staff Could Be Coming During Offseason

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Bills GMย Doug Whaley is at odds with the coaching staff over several key issues, and appears to be headed for a showdown with HC Rex Ryan andย his assistants during the offseason.

Sources have toldย La Canfora thatย Whaley isย unhappy with the ability of the staff to feature WRย Sammy Watkins in their offensive attack, and he’s reportedly expressed his frustrations toย members of the organization.

According to La Canfora,ย Whaley would like to see the team move on fromย offensive coordinator Greg Roman and other.

However, La Canfora adds that Billsย owner Terry Pegula is “highly unlikely”ย support such a change.

The Bills nearly firedย Whaley last year, who also had issues with the previous coaching staff. On top of that, the Bills were reportedly in talks to hireย Bill Polian to run their front office.

La Canfora reports thatย Pegulaย has continued to mull options for a football czar to oversee personnel, so there’s a chanceย Whaley could be pushed out following a major a hire.

We’ll have more regarding potential changes to the Bills’ organization as the news is available.
