Showdown Between Bills GM Doug Whaley & Coaching Staff Could Be Coming During Offseason

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Bills GM Doug Whaley is at odds with the coaching staff over several key issues, and appears to be headed for a showdown with HC Rex Ryan and his assistants during the offseason.

Sources have told La Canfora that Whaley is unhappy with the ability of the staff to feature WR Sammy Watkins in their offensive attack, and he’s reportedly expressed his frustrations to members of the organization.

According to La Canfora, Whaley would like to see the team move on from offensive coordinator Greg Roman and other.

However, La Canfora adds that Bills owner Terry Pegula is “highly unlikely” support such a change.

The Bills nearly fired Whaley last year, who also had issues with the previous coaching staff. On top of that, the Bills were reportedly in talks to hire Bill Polian to run their front office.

La Canfora reports that Pegula has continued to mull options for a football czar to oversee personnel, so there’s a chance Whaley could be pushed out following a major a hire.

We’ll have more regarding potential changes to the Bills’ organization as the news is available.
