Mutual Interest Between Patriots & LeGarrette Blount Regarding New Contract

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that the Patriots and free agent RBย LeGarrette Blount have shown mutual interest in a new contract.

Howe admits that Blount could still test theย free agent market in the coming weeks, and adds that negotiations between the two sides are still in the “infant stages.”

With Blount not expected to secure a sizable contract on the open market, it seems like the Patriots could be his best option.

Blount, 29, finished out the final year of hisย two-year, $1.73 million contract and will be anย unrestricted free agent next month.

In 2015,ย Blount appearedย inย 12 games and rushedย for 703 yards on 165 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with six receptions for 43 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.

We haveย him featuredย in ourย Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
