2014 Hall Of Fame Class

The 2014 Hall Of Fame inductees are being announced tonight. Here’s a look at the players who have been selected so far. We’ll have more updates as the announcements are made.

Derrick Brooks

Brooks was selected in the first-round of the 1995 NFL Draft out of Florida State by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brooks played his entire 11-year-career for the Buccaneers.

Along the way he won the 2002 Defensive Player of the Year, was voted to 11 Pro Bowls and was a nine-time All-Pro. I loved watching that guy years ago.

Andre Reed

Reed was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 1985 draft. He played 15 seasons for the Bills before later finishing his career with the Washington Redskins.

He helped the Bills appear in four straight Super Bowls, although they unfortunately lost all of them. Reed was voted to seven Pro Bowls and was selected to two All Pro second-teams.

Walter Jones

Jones also played his college football at the University of Florida State. He was drafted in the first round of the 1997 draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He played all thirteen seasons for the Seahawks who eventually retired his No. 71.

He was voted to nine Pro Bowls while being selected to All-Pro teams. Over the course of his career, he allowed just 23 quarterback sacks and was called for holding only nine times.

That’s just ridiculous!

Michael Strahan

Michael Strahan was taken in the second round of the 1993 NFL Draft. He played his entire fifteen-year career for the Giants and helped them win the Super Bowl in 2007.

Strahan managed to set the single season sack record in 2001 with 22.5. He finished his career fifth on the all time sack leaders list with 132.5. Strahan was voted to seven Pro Bowls and is a four-time All Pro. He also won the Defensive Player of the Year in 2001.

Aeneas Williams

Williams is probably the biggest surprise among the modern finalists, but it’s a well deserved honor for a great player.

The Cardinals drafted him in the third round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He played ten years with the Cardinals before leaving via free agency and signing with the St. Louis Rams. He played three seasons for the Rams before calling it a career.

Williams was voted to eight Pro Bowls and is a four-time All Pro. He was also voted to the 1990s All-Decade Team.

Ray Guy

The Raiders used a first-round pick on P Ray Guy back in 1973, which was as radical of move as it would be if it happened today.

Still, Guy is widely considered to be the greatest punter of all time and his candidacy for the Hall of Fame has been a bit of a debate in recent years.

He was voted to seven Pro Bowls and is a six-time All Pro.

Claude Humphrey

Humphrey was taken in the first-round of the 1968 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1968.

Humphrey later finished out his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has a career total of  126.5 sacks and was voted to six Pro Bowls, He also is a five-time All Pro.
