Here’s the second-round projection for my 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
2020 NFL Mock Draft
33. Cincinnati Bengals: Georgia OT Isaiah Wilson
I originally had Wilson going later in round two, but there has been some talk he could go as high as round, given that offensive tackle prospects are expected to come off the board fairly high this year. The Bengals got their quarterback at No. 1 overall and come back and take a tackle prospect to help protect him in the years to come.
34. Indianapolis Colts: Utah State QB Jordan Love
Love is considered by some to be a first-round prospect, who could go as high as the top-10. However, he slides a bit in this mock and I’m sure the Colts are more than happy to grab him at No. 34 overall. Love would serve as the long-term replacement for veteran Philip Rivers.
35. Detroit Lions: Wisconsin LB Zack Baun
Baun is an intriguing player, given that he has good pass rusher ability, but could be better suited to playing linebacker in the NFL. For what it’s worth, Lance Zierlein comps Baun to former Lions LB Kyle Van Noy.
36. New York Giants: Michigan EDGE Josh Uche
The Giants have resisted paying big money for a free agent edge rusher like Jadeveon Clowney, but are able to address the position in round two. Uche offers athleticism and high upside at the position and has come up as a player who could possibly sneak into round one.
37. Los Angeles Chargers: Boise State OT Ezra Cleveland
Cleveland has been a rising prospect during the draft process and offers good athleticism for the position. While he may need some work, he offers the kind of upside you’re looking for at a premium position like offensive tackle.
38. Carolina Panthers: Alabama CB Trevon Diggs
Carolina lost James Bradberry in free agency and currently have Donte Jackson and Corn Elder in line to be their starting cornerbacks at this point. Diggs is a high-upside cornerback who offers good size and projects to be an NFL starter at an increasingly valuable position. Lance Zierlein comps Diggs to veteran CB Aqib Talib.
39. Miami Dolphins: Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor
The Dolphins signed Jordan Howard to a decent contract in free agency, but there’s still room to add an impact player like Taylor to their backfield. Taylor was a highly productive player at Wisconsin who has the making of a true No. 1 running back.
40. Houston Texans: Missouri DT Jordan Elliott
The Texans watched D.J. Reader depart for a massive contract with the Bengals. Elliott is a versatile tackle with high upside. In fact, Lance Zierlein comps Elliott to Panthers DT Kawann Short.
41. Cleveland Browns: LSU S Grant Delpit
The Browns have signed Andrew Sendejo and have a pending deal in place with Karl Joseph, but even those players shouldn’t prevent them from grabbing one of the best safety prospects in this year’s draft class. Lance Zierlein comps Deplit to current Titans S Kenny Vaccaro.
42. Jacksonville Jaguars: Minnesota S Antoine Winfield Jr.
Jacksonville has a need a safety next to Ronnie Harrison and this is pretty good value getting Winfield Jr at No. 42 overall. Winfield Jr offers some versatility in terms of what he can do at safety and should be a good fit in the Jaguars’ secondary. Lance Zierlein comps Winfield to T.J. Ward.
43. Chicago Bears: Baylor WR Denzel Mims
Mims had a great combine who offers the kind of speed, length and catching ability teams will be looking for. He has been mentioned a potential first-round prospect this year, so this could be a great value pick for the Bears.
44. Indianapolis Colts: TCU WR Jalen Reagor
The Colts could really use another receiver and Reagor is a play-making receiver who is electric with the ball in his hands. He has also garnered some first-round buzz throughout the draft process.
45. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: OSU RB J.K. Dobbins
Bucs HC Bruce Arians has said he values a receiving ability and pass protection from his running backs and Dobbins offers the ability to contribute on all three downs at the next level. Some draft experts have him rated as the best back in this year’s class, so this could be a steal of a pick for Tampa Bay.
46. Denver Broncos: LSU CB Kristian Fulton
The Broncos went with the best available receiver in round one and come back in the second by grabbing the best available cornerback. Fulton is a former five-star recruit with a background in track who produced a solid season in coverage at LSU as a senior.
47. Atlanta Falcons: TCU CB Jeff Gladney
Atlanta made the decision to release CB Demond Trufant for cap relief last month and are currently thin at the cornerback position. Gladney is considered to be one of the top cornerback prospects in this year’s draft class and is a good value for the Falcons in round two.
48. New York Jets: USC WR Michael Pittman Jr.
The Jets had to address the receiver position after going offensive tackle in round one. Pittman is a big, physical receiver who should be a reliable target for Sam Darnold in the years to come.
49. Pittsburgh Steelers: LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire
The Steelers can’t go into 2020 with James Conner as their main running back. Edwards-Helaire offers an intriguing blend of ability and power and is capable of playing all three downs and lining up at receiver. Lance Zierlein comps him to Devonta Freeman.
50. Chicago Bears: OSU CB Damon Arnette
The Bears went with the best available receiver earlier, but the secondary remains an area of need for them. Arnette offers some versatility at the position and is capable of helping out in the run game.
51. Dallas Cowboys: Alabama EDGE Terrell Lewis
We have the Cowboys taking a safety in round one, so getting an edge rusher in the second would make some sense. Lewis is a long and explosive edge rusher with solid upside.
52. Los Angeles Rams: Florida State RB Cam Akers
After cutting Todd Gurley, there’s no question that running back depth is a clear area of need for the Rams. Akers is a former five-star recruit who has the ability to consistently make defenders miss.
53. Philadelphia Eagles: Southern Illinois LB/S Jeremy Chinn
The Eagles could use help at both linebacker and safety and Chinn would give them a solid cover guy on the back end of their defensive. Lance Zierlein comps Chinn to Vikings S Harrison Smith.
54. Buffalo Bills: Auburn CB Noah Igbinoghene
The Bills really don’t have a ton of needs and we would have preferred to give them a running back, but that’s not how the board fell in this mock. They could use some cornerback depth. Igbinoghene is a former receiver who is known for being aggressive and physical. Lance Zierlein compares him to Darqueze Dennard.
55. Baltimore Ravens: App. State LB Akeem Davis-Gaither
Linebacker stands out as a clear position of need for the Ravens, which is likely why they opted to sign Jake Ryan to a contract on Saturday. However, Ryan hasn’t played in some time due to injury and Davis-Gaither would give them a play-making linebacker prospect to develop in the middle of their defense.
56. Miami Dolphins: California S Ashtyn Davis
The Dolphins’ safety position is an area that could use some more depth. Davis is considered to be a physically gifted prospect with elite traits capable of developing into a starter at the next level.
57. Los Angeles Rams: LSU C Lloyd Cushenberry
This is a decent value pick for the Rams, who could use some offensive line help and a solid center option like Cushenberry. Lance Zierlein compares Cushenberry to Packers C Corey Linsley.
58. Minnesota Vikings: Texans A&M DT Justin Madubuike
The Vikings cut veteran DT Linval Joseph this offseason and later signed Michael Pierce in free agency. Even so, it couldn’t hurt to add more depth at the position. Madubuike is a quick player for his position and could serve as a decent compliment to Pierce in the years to come.
59. Seattle Seahawks: Oklahoma DT Neville Gallimore
The Seahawks could still use an interior defensive lineman to pair with Jarran Reid. Gallimore is an athletic player for a big guy capable of applying pressure up the middle.
60. Baltimore Ravens: Boise State EDGE Curtis Weaver
The Ravens currently have Matthew Judon as their No. 1 pass rusher, but there are at least some questions behind him. Weaver totaled 34 sacks over the course three seasons Boise State and would give Baltimore another edge rusher to develop in the coming years.
61. Tennessee Titans: St. Johns OT Ben Bartch
Tennessee could still use some offensive tackle help and Bartch is arguably the best available option at this point. He played tight end before transitioning to offensive tackle. He helped his stock at the Senior Bowl and could be an interesting upside tackle in the years to come.
62: Green Bay Packers: Colorado WR Laviska Shenault
Shenault will be one of the more interesting prospects to watch in this year’s draft, as draft evaluators have said he could go anywhere from round one to possibly round three. We gave the Packers a linebacker in round, so it makes sense that they could come back and consider taking the best available receiver at this point.
63. Kansas City Chiefs: Mississippi State LB Willie Gay Jr
The defending Super Bowl Champs have very few holes to address, but one area where they could use some depth is at linebacker. Gay Jr is an interesting prospect who has good range and coverage skills.
64. Seattle Seahawks: Louisiana-Lafayette G Robert Hunt
The Seahawks have brought in a number of veteran offensive linemen this offseason, but they are mainly low-cost one-year contract so it remains to be seen who sticks. Hunt was a four-year starter Louisiana-Lafayette who has been a standout in the running game and is among the top guard prospects in this year’s class.
