Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the 49ers are declining G Joshua Garnett‘s fifth-year option.
Garnett has dealt with injuries in recent years, so this isn’t a big surprise. Pelissero notes that Garnett is healthy now and team brass talked up his potential again at the combine.
Garnett, 25, is a former first-round pick by the 49ers in the 2016 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of a four year $9.304 million rookie contract and is set to make a base salary of $1,718,770 this season.
Garnett will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Garnett appeared in seven games for the 49ers.
